Duran Kalkan emphasizes on ongoing struggle to liberate leader Ocalan

During a special program on Medya Haberê TV, the member of the Executive Committee of PKK, Duran Kalkan evaluates the case of leader Ocalan and the position of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT).

At the beginning of his speech, Kalkan respectfully greeted the resistance being waged in Imrali and the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and mentioned that they are in a very sensitive and critical operation.

Kalkan referred to the statement of the Human Rights Office of Al-Asr, which said that there was no meeting with Ocalan, during the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture’s visit to Imrali.

He added, "Either the CPT will disclose this, or the lawyers and the leader's family will be allowed to go to Imrali because there is no clear information about the current situation in Imrali".

Kalkan pointed out, " the situation is dangerous, how can an institution like CPT say that it went and conducted a meeting with the leader they are using the situation in Imrali for their own interests, so there is no concrete and clear position, no one has clear information on this matter, there is also an unknown situation at the level of families and lawyers, leader Ocalan cannot say anything about his condition, But others speak enough for them, evaluate, interpret, according to their interests, is it possible?

Leader Ocalan is the only power for peace

He added, "This is a very dangerous situation, and I would like to point out this privacy, first: the Kurdish issue is a serious one, those who say: we are interested in this issue, I want to say to them you must be serious."

Duran Kalkan said: "We have mentioned this many times, if the Kurdish issue will be resolved by democratic means, then the Kurdish and Turkish peace will be achieved, so the only power that can do this is Leader Ocalan. We have said this a hundred times.

Kalkan made the point clear "It seems that there is a game being played, instead of using this opportunity to find a solution, the game is being played for sordid interests which is a very big risk "

Imrali is everyone's responsibility

Kalkan stated that no information had been received from Imrali, for the past 20 months, and said, "There is no information, it is all predictions, and speculations, the only real thing is that the situation is not clear, therefore, health and safety matters are very serious. So the people, the movement, the entire Kurdish society and democratic humanity in Turkey and the Middle East are responsible for the situation in Imrali.

Kalkan stressed  "We, the people and the movement, must be able to fight against this situation through a general mobilization, so everyone from the age of seven to seventy must rise up, and it is also necessary to do uninterrupted activities for solidarity with the leader Ocalan in order to defend our existence and freedom, so that lawyers and families can go to Imrali, and obtain information about the situation of the leader and other detainees, furthermore some institutions announced a general mobilization, such as The Kurdish Democratic Society Conference - Europe (KCDK-E) and similar institutions, as many institutions have made similar statements, are all correct, important and meaningful, but they should not remain mere statements.

Kalkan concluded by saying:" We must continue our struggle for Leader Ocalan's freedom, health and safety, at least to receive information, so that the torture system in Imrali ends and leader Ocalan gains his physical freedom.
