​​​​​​​Jurists: Exclusion Ocalan leader from Right of Hope violate international norms

In another evidence of its violation of international laws and covenants, on August 30, the authorities of the Turkish occupation state exempted Commander Ocalan from the "Right of Hope", under the pretext of imposing "disciplinary sanctions" on him recently.

The "Right of Hope" is a decision made by the European Court of Human Rights since 1950, and this right allows any convict to life imprisonment to have the hope of getting out of prison and living his life after more than 20 years of imprisonment.

It was applied for the first time in the German Federal Constitutional Court in 1977, that the life sentence is outside the scope of reforming the detainee for his mistakes or changing his personality for what he committed, and no detainee may be subjected to torture or humiliating punishment, according to Article 3/ of the European Convention for human rights.

On this issue, the jurist and member of the Committee for Demanding the Freedom of Leader Ocalan in Southern Kurdistan, Hakim Abdul Karim said, "The ideas and theses of Leader Ocalan call for peaceful coexistence between all components, and if the opportunity is given to him, he will solve the Kurdish issue in all parts of Kurdistan, and solve the crises and issues of the entire Middle East."

Abdul Karim considered the measures taken by the Turkish occupation state against the leader Ocalan and his companions in Turkish detention and prisons as arbitrary measures and in contradiction to international norms and international human rights charters.

Jurist and judge in the Court of Justice in Hasakah canton, Mahmoud Jamil, pointed out that "political detainees inside Turkish prisons are being killed as a result of severe torture at the hands of the Turkish occupation state, which violates their rights."

He said about depriving the leader Ocalan of the "Right of Hope", "It is a new method of the fascist Turkish occupation state to increase pressure on the leader Ocalan and the Kurdish people in Kurdistan, and to evade a political solution and recognition of the legitimate national rights of the Kurdish people in Turkey."

Jamil noted that "it is in the interest of the Turkish occupation state to search for a political solution, rather than escalation, ruling out the existence of any solutions, other than granting the Kurdish people their rights."

Mahmoud Jamil, a jurist and judge in the Court of Justice in al-Hasakah canton, called on "international forces and the United Nations in all their bodies, to put pressure on the Turkish occupation state to prevent it from committing flagrant violations against the leader Ocalan and all political detainees in Turkish prisons."

Despite the issuance of the report of the European Committee Against Torture CPT, which confirmed the practice of the Turkish occupying state of non-human rights policies in Imrali Prison, the Turkish authorities tightened the isolation more on the leader Ocalan.
