​​​​​​​ Israeli president in Turkey... Has Erdogan ended his exploitation of Palestine issue?

 Herzog's visit is the first by an Israeli president to Turkey since former President Shimon Peres traveled to Ankara in 2007.

 Herzog is on two-day visit

 After arriving in Ankara, the Israeli president went to the mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and then to the presidential complex to meet Erdogan, according to video footage went viral by the Anatolia News Agency.

 In mid-February, a senior Turk, led by Ibrahim Kalin, Erdogan's chief advisor and Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Unal, visited Israel to prepare for the visit of the Israeli president.

 Relations between the two countries have been tense over the past decade, after they suffered a major blow in 2010 when Israeli soldiers stormed the Marmara ship, a Turkish aid convoy bound for the Gaza Strip.  At that time, Turkey suspended diplomatic relations with Israel.

 Observers believe that Erdogan has sought during the past years to exploit the Palestinian cause to attract Arab and Islamic public opinion, in conjunction with his intervention in many Arab countries.

 Despite the emergence of political tension between Turkey and Israel, economic and trade relations continued and grew during that time.
