​​​​​​​ Head of Kurdistan Renewal Movement: Arabs and Kurds must close ranks to resist any Turkish aggression

The head of the Kurdistan Renewal Movement, Rizgar Qassem, stressed the need to prepare to confront any Turkish attack on the region without waiting for the results of the deals that Turkey seeks to conclude with international powers. He also called on the Kurdistan Democratic Party to abandon employment for the occupying country.

The head of the Kurdistan Renewal Movement, Rizgar Qassem, evaluated during an interview with our agency the Turkish attacks on Southern Kurdistan and the resistance of the Guerilla.  In the same context, he called on the components of northeast Syria, especially the Arabs and Kurds, to prepare to confront any Turkish attack on the region, regardless of the results of the bargains made by the Turkish state to conclude deals with international powers at the expense of the people of northern and eastern Syria.

 The following is the text of the interview:

• The Turkish occupation state has launched attacks against Southern Kurdistan since April 23, in your opinion, what is the purpose of these attacks?

Of course, these attacks on and against Southern Kurdistan go back decades by the Turkish occupation, which targets the Kurdish presence wherever it is. It claims that it is fighting the Kurdistan Workers Party, but in fact it aims to go further than that, as it targets the gains of the Kurdish people there.

Turkey is the biggest enemy of the Kurdish people in general, and it does not hide its ambitions in southern Kurdistan, from Kirkuk to Mosul, on the basis of its dictated charter, and it will not hesitate to strike any Kurdish gain wherever it is.

Turkish officials will not hesitate one day, and will even confirm that they do not recognize Southern Kurdistan, which the federal Iraqi constitution affirms.  Turkish fascism differs in its concept of occupation from the rest of the occupied countries, as it is considered a usurper and targets wealth and culture and carries out the process of demographic change, in its usurping colonial policies.

In addition to all this, Turkey is making all its efforts and devoting all its policies to distorting the image of the Kurd in front of public opinion, through its films, so that the Kurd appears as a terrorist wherever he is.  Southern Kurdistan understands that.

It is impossible for the Turkish occupation to turn with this mentality into a friend, as its attacks and war in the region target, above all, the gains of our people there.

• 5 fighters of the People Defense Forces were martyred in an ambush set by the party. How do you evaluate the role that the Kurdistan Democratic Party plays now, and what is its impact on the Kurdish cause and the gains achieved by the Kurds?

History has proven that the Turks relied in their colonial policies on the principle and policy of divide and rule against the Kurds, and the Kurds hit the Kurds, and they succeeded in it to a large extent.

Turkish fascism has always sought to buy off Kurdish parties’ debts to strike parties struggling for the freedom and liberation of Kurdistan, the Kurdish revolutions in Bakur Kurdistan from Akre and through the revolution of Sheikh Saeed and Sayed Rida to the Kurdistan Workers’ Revolution that shook the throne of Turkish fascism, since its outbreak in 1984 and until today, Turkey is making efforts  All in its power to mobilize Kurdish parties against it, and in the end, as I mentioned, Turkey targets the Kurds and his gains wherever he is, and in any part of occupied Kurdistan, and based on that, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and all the parties of Southern Kurdistan should not be deceived by Turkey's policies that target them as well.  And respect for the sanctity of the guerrillas who never hesitated in defending the gains of southern Kurdistan in the face of ISIS, which Turkey supported with all its capabilities in Shingal, Mosul, Makhmour and Kirkuk.

Based on the principle of Kurdish blood on the Kurdish is forbidden, had it not been for the heroic resistance of the Guerilla alongside their brothers in southern Kurdistan and the sacrifices they made there, things might have changed in favor of ISIS and Erdogan’s government, which has not yet recognized the Kurdistan region, which imposes on the region’s politicians and leaders to move towards consolidating Kurdish relations  With the Kurdish workers and other parts, instead of cooperating with the usurping countries of Kurdistan, led by Turkey, and moving towards developing a Kurdish strategy by holding a Kurdistan National Conference that would end the differences between all parties.

In the end, the martyrdom of any fighter at the hands of his brother is condemned by all standards, and what happened in the Khalifan region, where the guerrillas were martyred there, serves only the enemies of the Kurds.

• Recently, Turkish officials issued threats to launch a new aggression against the regions of northern and eastern Syria.  How do you read these threats?

The Justice and Development government is going through its worst phases, both internally and externally, and in my opinion, the policy of trade-offs that it adopted with the Russians and the Americans has reached its final stages.  The fact that the Syrian issue has taken a new path for solutions, the threats of the Turks today are nothing but an extension of their mentality that depends on wars and destruction since they came as invaders from Central Asia.  Today, Erdogan is in a state of confusion. In my opinion, neither the Russians nor the Americans allow Erdogan to launch a new aggression, but despite that we must take into account the barbarism of their policies targeting the Kurdish presence?!

• What is required of the people of northern and eastern Syria, and the Kurdish and Kurdish people now, and how can Turkish attacks be deterred?

The Turks, through their policies throughout history, and since the Ottoman occupation and through their expansionist occupation ambitions, targeted all the peoples of the region without exception. The Ottomans ruled the Arab countries for four hundred years.  Behind them, what today imposes on all components of northeastern Syria and the people of Western Kurdistan in particular and the Arabs in general, to close ranks and unite to resist any aggression, liberate the areas occupied by Turkey and preserve and defend the Autonomous Administration in the face of any Turkish invasion and from any party.
