Deir ez -Zour Committee : Femicides contravene humanitarian laws

Women of Deir ez-Zour condemned the murders of Eida and Aya as being contrary to human principles and seeking to undermine women's freedom.

Condemning the murders of Eida al-Saido and Aya al-Khalaf by their relatives in Hasaka, Women's Committee of the Eastern Region of Deir ez-Zor issued a statement delivered by the co-chair of the Al-Kashm District Council, Zahia Al-Shahdha.

It reads, "On behalf of the women of North and East Syria in general and the women of the Eastern Region in particular, and on behalf of the Women's Committee of the Eastern Region of Deir ez-Zo, the local councils and the institutions of the Autonomous Administration, we stand in protest today to condemn and decry the brutal and heinous crime.

We also stand here to express what we have in mind and to show the entire world that women's rights are neither sold nor purchased, and that this act is contrary to human principles, customs and traditions and to Islamic law.

In conclusion, the statement called on the concerned parties and international and humanitarian organizations to hold perpetrators accountable, "these crimes carried out against women as an attempt to undermine their freedom."
