KJK: 1 July marks a new struggle 

On 1 July Turkey singed officially the Istanbul Convention that received approval by the Council of Ministers in February 2012. On this a statement was released by KCK reads:

“Turkey is among the countries with a high rate of violence against women. In such an environment where abuse against children is left unpunished, all kinds of discrimination, violence and unlawfulness against women are practiced, and the dominant male mentality is brought to light on this basis.''.

 “this repressive action carried out by both AKP and MHP was met with the anger of tens of thousands of women in all provinces of Turkey and Kurdistan, in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, to Amed, Antalya, Dersim, Adana and Hatay. 1 July is not the end for women rather it is the beginning of a new struggle.”

The statement paid tribute to “the resistance of these women activists. Our women's freedom struggle will go on with great steadfastness and determination without taking even a single step back. The feminist activities on 1 July once again show that the power of merce4naries, mafia, thieves and despicable men will be further reduced and destroyed by the joint struggle and resistance put up by women in the face of both AKP-MHP.”

''Withdrawal decision taken by Erdogan from the Istanbul Convention without receiving the okay of the parliament is a message to the whole world that Turkey is to retreat from all gains made by women in the way to bring into reality a just life for all community. This may lead Turkey to devise ways to withdraw from other international conventions. By these measures Erdogan believes that he would be able to justify his illegal rule fir so the withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention is not a measure against women rather it is against the Turkish community and Kurdistan at large''.   

It was also noted that help given by the US and European states and capitals corroborates  strong support for his misogynistic policies of AKP. ''of course, as women, we will widen our struggle by basing it on our own freedom, organization and understanding of self-defense. Women from Turkey and Kurdistan will continue their relentless resistance against inequality, discrimination and annihilation policies. We will implement our slogan, Jin Jiyan Azadî, with great determination.”
