Sara Org calls to hold heinous crime perpetrators accountable

Sara Organization for Combating Violence against Women condemned the killing of minor (A.S), calling for a firm stand to stop violence against women and the punishment of every aggressor to serve to be an example to all who contemplate this.

Today, Sara Organization for Combating Violence against Women issued a statement to the public opinion, in which it condemned the murder of the minor (A.S) in Ghweiran neighborhood of Hasakah city, and it was read by the organization's coordinator, Rajaa Issa, in front of its headquarter in Qamishlo.

While reading the statement, women carried placards reading "No to violence against women," "Together... in the face of violence and human rights violations," "You killed me when you married me when I was young," and "Enough violence."

Activists on Facebook had circulated a video of the underage girl, being brutally shot dead by a group of people believed to be her parents.

At the beginning of the statement, it said: "We call out at the top of our voice, condemning and opposing violence committed against women and children, and we say enough ignorance, enough injustice, and enough power."

It continued saying, "You who used to call out loud and run like wolves at the girl as if she were prey, where was honor when you married her at the age of roses, and where was honor when you killed her childhood and her right to education."

It added, "You are the ones who committed shame, not her, and you should have killed yourselves. That is more honorable to you. You are a stigma that has been entrenched in the minds of society and we call for justice at the loudest voice to take its course against the killers, everyone who watched and silenced, and everyone who boasted and published. We expect the most severe penalties against them, and we call on all security institutions and bodies not to remain silent about this heinous crime."

The statement called on all civil society organizations to stand together and firm in the face of violence committed against women and to punish every aggressor for their act.

It added, "This is not only a statement to be read today, but it is a stance for all feminist organizations and movements, which we will make of a women's imprint to combat all forms of violence against women."

The statement concluded by calling for prosecuting all participants of the heinous crime against the slayed.
