Thirty jailors beat Kurdish political activist in Turkish prisons

The ANF news agency reported that the family of political activist Mizgin Kait Baik, detained in Batnos prison, indicated that their daughter was severely beaten by thirty prison guards.

Accordingly, the family submitted a request to the Human Rights Association, asking for help.

Mizgin was constantly maltreated and tortured, and during her transfer to court, she was subjected to verbal violence that quickly developed into physical assault by the group of warders who were accompanying her to court.

As a result, Mizgin lost consciousness and was later referred to the hospital to perform the necessary aid, but the Turkish judiciary ordered her transfer to prison without fully recovering.

In a telephone conversation with her family, Mizgin confirmed that the Public Prosecutor prevented her from seeing her family because of her deteriorating health condition, as a result of the beating which led to fractures, wounds, bleeding and rashes in various places on the body.

This incident comes when the Supreme Administrative Court in Turkey rejected the request to suspend the withdrawal from the "Istanbul Convention" to stop violence against women, which is scheduled to enter into force on the first of next July.
