Afrin displaced: For whom will Newroz be revived in Afrin while more than 25,000 people displaced?

The Syrian National Coalition of the Turkish occupation is preparing to revive Newroz celebration in the occupied city of Afrin, while ignoring the crimes it commits against civilians, its displacement of the indigenous population and the demographic change attempts to distance the Kurds from their historical land.

In this regard, the displaced from Afrin, who are living in al-Shahba canton, said: "For whom Newroz will be revived in Afrin while more than 25 thousand people displaced?

The displaced Fadel Oso, who is living in Serdem camp, pointed out: "Newroz came 2,627 years ago, and with it a new day began for the Kurds and the stage of injustice in which they used to live at that time ended, and from that day the peoples have been celebrating Newroz (the new life)."

He continued: "This day came at the hand of Kawa al-Haddad who eliminated injustice for the sake of a decent life, and now we hear news from the occupied city of Afrin after its occupation three years ago and the forcible displacement of its people from their homes that the Syrian coalition (mercenaries of Turkey) will celebrate Newroz for the Kurdish people inside the city!"

By what right will they celebrate Newroz in Afrin?

Oso sent a message to the mercenaries of Turkey (the Syrian Coalition), in which he said: "You committed many crimes in the city of Afrin against the Kurds, and what in the word you will celebrate Newroz in Afrin, these are nothing but new plans against the Kurdish people, not only in Afrin, but against every displaced Kurd from their land."

Oso said about the aim of the occupation and its mercenaries: "These are attempts to distort world opinion, implement a new policy and follow up the lies that suggest to the world that they are giving the Kurds their rights.

For whom will Newroz be revived in Afrin and more than 25 thousand displaced from Afrin?

The citizen Jihan Mannan said: "We know very well that the coalition affiliated with the Turkish occupation is planning something against us. Erdogan did not basically acknowledge the existence of Newroz, so how will he now allow it to be celebrated within the city of Afrin?"

Jihan continued: "After the settlement of mercenaries from all regions and the displacement of the original Kurds, for whom will Newroz be celebrated, there are more than 25 thousand displaced people living in al-Shahba canton, far from their land. We used to celebrate Newroz  freely and happily in Afrin, but the occupier deprived us of everything."

Jihan added: "We deplore those celebrations inside Afrin. If Erdogan understands the meaning of humanity and freedom, he should leave our land for us to return to it, so our return to Afrin would be the Eid.

The coalition strips Newroz of its essence in occupied Afrin

For his part, the displaced, Bakr Bilal, said: "Three years ago, we were displaced from our homes to al-Shahba canton on March 18, 2018, before the arrival of Newroz, and now Newroz day is announced in the occupied city of Afrin. I even saw some of videos that they posted on social networking sites. They are not good at holding the Kurdish Dabkeh, and they light candles instead of fires. All that I saw in the video is nothing but a distortion of the meaning of Newroz."

At the end of his speech, Bilal wished that Afrin would be liberated for the next Newroz to be in Afrin with the presence of its indigenous inhabitants.
