​​​​​​​Politicians: We are inspired by Newroz for continuation of struggle

Politicians pointed out that the Newroz carries important historical connotations for the components of a region that has suffered injustice and persecution, and stressed that the unity, is the way to salvation, congratulating the Kurdish people and the rest of the components on this day.

The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party,(SUP) Sanhrib Barsoum, said, "Syria's history goes  back to thousands of years. In this truly rooted history, there are festivals and occasions that the people of Syria celebrate to this day; Newroz and Akito and there are special feasts for the Yazidis, these ancient peoples who have preserved their history." And its cultures celebrate the holidays. "

He added, "These days enjoy numerous indications, including the historical depth and the nobility of the peoples in Syria. So when we confirm that the components of Syria are ancient ones, We affirm the pluralism in Syria, and the recognition of all components is a natural right. "

Barsoum sent a message to the Syrian people, "on these occasions, the next Newroz, then, and the Yazidis one later, that these holidays are for the Syrian components, and they unify this history and geography."

And he demanded "all the Syrian components to recognize the legitimate rights of all components. I believe that this is the most appropriate solution to the peoples' causes in Syria."

Barsoum congratulated the Kurdish people and the Syrian components on Newroz, and wished an official recognition of all the rights of the Kurdish people and the Syrians in general, including the Syriac and Assyrian people as well, as two peoples went through the same suffering. I think this era is over, and the Syrians have to accept this fact. "

The co-chair of the SUP stressed that "all components must join hands to obtain their rights, freedom. This solidarity requires great efforts amid years of war and regional interventions and eventually, our strength lies in our unity and coexistence."  

He concluded, " I wish the Kurdish people in general, and the Syrian people safe and sound years."

'Eid of Resurrection'

In turn, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Aisha Hasso, considered that “Newroz represents the resurgence amid attempts to eliminate the Kurdish people.

In NE Syria, large numbers did not participate in the Newroz celebrations last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but this occasion remained alive in our hearts.

She indicated that the ruling regimes targeted historical holidays, on March 18, 2018, Turkey occupied the Afrin canton, and the first thing they did the statue of Kawa Al-Hadad in an effort to extinguish the torch of Newroz.

 For 10 years, people have been celebrating this holiday in the spirit of contemporary Kawa, Mazlum Dogan, and the vanguard of the People's Protection Units and Women's Protection Units. There are big preparations for this year’s celebration that differ from previous ones. "

Regarding the allegations that the mercenaries invited the Kurdish National Council to celebrate Newroz in occupied Afrin, Aisha Hasso said, "There are crimes at the highest levels in the occupied areas, in an area where demographic change is taking place with those who will celebrate Newroz, are those in Afrin the same? Really its original inhabitants. There are mercenaries from wide and open, so how can these people celebrate this holiday?

All powers must clarify their position on these allegations, because this is far from the values ​​of Newroz. How can the Kurdish National Council celebrate Newroz with mercenaries who practice extermination?

Aisha Hasso concluded, "The areas controlled by the Damascus government and under Turkish occupation will become clear. The autonomous administration that has proven itself on the ground will bring democracy and freedom to all parts of Syria, and from this standpoint we will congratulate everyone on Newroz this year."

'Newroz is a revolution for humanity'

In a related context, Hikmat Habib, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council, affirmed that "Eid Newroz was a starting point for a revolution against injustice and tyranny led by Kawa Al-Haddad, and that stage was historic in the life of the Kurdish people who have been struggling from that date to our day against injustice and tyranny."

Habib linked "what happened in NE Syria, especially the Rojava revolution, which was inspired by the ancient Kurdish people who presented a revolution in every sense of the word, and all the people of the region, both Kurds and Arabs, and the Syriacs around it, gathered around the revolution of Kawa against oppression and tyranny."

Habib affirmed that the main and primary goal of the revolution in northern and eastern Syria is to establish a democratic project in which everyone has equal rights and duties.

Habib pointed out that Nowruz "no longer concerns the Kurds only, but rather all the components. We in the Arab component have been celebrating Nowruz for several years, and we see it as a revolution for all humanity, not only for the Kurds, and we draw very great meaning from Nowruz in order to continue the struggle to achieve the aspirations of our people."

Habib urged the peoples of the region to unite ranks "in order to continue the struggle in the trench of humanity to reach a true democracy," and stressed the need to pay attention to the special warfare pursued by authoritarian regimes to create a rift between peoples.
