Russia refutes Erdogan's allegations: Turkey will not participate in "peacekeeping" forces in Karabakh

The Kremlin confirmed that the tripartite statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on stopping the fighting in the Karabakh region does not contain any reference to the possibility of deploying Turkish peacekeepers in the region, but Ankara insists that its forces will participate in keeping the peace in Karabakh.

The Turkish president said earlier that "Turkey will be alongside Russia in the peacekeeping forces in Karabakh."

Earlier, the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, said in response to a press question: "There is not a single word about that in the text of the statement that was published, and the three parties did not agree on that, and there was no agreement on the presence of Turkish soldiers in Karabakh."

Commenting on the statement of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, he added that Turkish peacekeepers will be deployed in Karabakh alongside the Russian forces: "In fact, there was talk about the establishment of the Azerbaijani Land Center to monitor the ceasefire, and this is in Azerbaijan."

In response to a question about whether he meant by "Azerbaijani lands" the areas controlled by Baku in Karabakh, Peskov said: "No, (the intended) is not Karabakh."
