Hannah Neumann discusses crucial issues with Badran Çiya Kurd

On Thursday, on her second stop in her visit to the Autonomous Administration and civil society institutions, Hannah Neumann, the member of the European Parliament (MEP), met Badran Çiya Kurd, the Vice President of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

During the meeting, they discussed the most important political and military developments taking place in Syria in general, and the Autonomous Administration regions in particular, in addition to exchanging views on issues of common concern, as Çiya Kurd referred to the negative Turkish role that threatens the security of the region and Europe, through its support for extremists and mercenaries.

In his speech, Çiya Kurd pointed to the need to work jointly to confront the Turkish regime that fuels political Islam and threatens everyone, and said: "The recent terrorist operations in France and Austria are a continuation of what the Turkish regime has done and is doing in the regions of northern and eastern Syria."

Çiya Kurd noted that the time has come for the European Union to put an end to Turkish practices and its aggressive policies against Europe and the region.

He also touched on the need to recognize the Autonomous Administration and include it in the political process, because without this process it is not possible to build a democratic political system in the region, otherwise it would be a reproduction of oppressive authoritarian regimes.

In the meeting, Çiya Kurd called for working to provide political, humanitarian and human rights support to the Autonomous Administration at the same level of support that the Syrian Democratic Forces received from the International Coalition to fight ISIS, and to convert military victories into political gains that would in turn be the only way to defeat terrorism and extremism and thwart Turkish plans.

Without Autonomous Administration’s participation, no solution to the Syrian crisis can be reached

For her part, European Parliament member Hannah Neumann said during the meeting that Turkey has caused many problems to the world, especially the European Union, and that the European Union supports the participation of the Autonomous Administration in the Geneva talks and political negotiations in order to find a solution to the crisis in Syria, because without the Autonomous Administration joining these talks the Syrian crisis cannot be solved.

She also touched on Autonomous Administration model that it is a pluralistic model which comprises all religious and ethnic components of the region as well as women in administration; she noted that it is a very successful experience, which is not only to benefit from in this region, but can be a model for Syria and the Middle East as well.

She emphasized that this region should not be absent from the concerns of Europeans and the West, and that the decision to close the Yaroubia crossing "Tal Koçer" was a very bad decision, and that is why support must be provided directly for the Autonomous Administration, and that European parliamentarians at the human rights, political and humanitarian levels will work to support the administration.

A member of the European Parliament "MEP" and head of the delegation for relations with the Arabian Peninsula, Hannah Neumann, arrived yesterday morning to the regions of northern and eastern Syria through the Semalka border crossing, and met in Qamishlo with officials in the external relations department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

During the meeting, the External Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration focused on the repercussions that the Turkish attack had on the regions of northeastern Syria, the people of the region, and the reality of the camps located in the Autonomous Administration areas.

According to our correspondent, MEP Member and Head of the Delegation for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula, Hannah Neumann, will meet tomorrow morning with representatives of civil society institutions.
