Egypt rejects any forced demographic change in Syria

Sameh Shukry, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria while confronting terrorist groups in that country, warning of the danger of transporting terrorists from there to other regions in the world.

Ahmed Hafez, the Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that Shukry expressed during his meeting with the UN envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen in Cairo on Thursday his appreciation for the efforts made by the latter with the various relevant parties to seek a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

Hafez added that the Foreign Minister stressed to Pederson the importance of seeking to move all paths of the political solution related to the Syrian crisis, and Egypt's rejection of any forced demographic change in Syria, with the need for political moves to coincide with the decisive and effective response to armed terrorist organizations, especially in light of what is happening of transferring extremist fighters from Syria to other conflict areas in the region in a way that inflames regional hotbeds of conflict in them in order to serve the narrow goals and agendas of the supporters of those terrorist groups.
