U.S. gives okay to sell Taiwan four drones

The U.S. State Department has agreed to sell four U.S. made drones with MQ- 9 missiles to Taiwan in an official notification to the U.S. Congress, in the last step to conclude the bargain, according to Reuters.

If done, the deal that reaches 600 million U.S. $ would be the first of it's kind, since the U.S. administration of Donald Trump alleviated the U.S. policy on exporting highly advanced technology of unmanned aircrafts (drones).

Last week, Washington announced that it had agreed to sell Taiwan 100 Harbor missile defense systems that cost 2.4 U.S. billion $.  

Reuters reported that the White House would go on in five separate deals of advanced military equipment to Taiwan with a total cost of 5 billion U.S. $ in a bid by the U.S. President Donald Trump to increase pressure on China amid increasing fears about Beijing's intentions towards Taiwan.   

The Pentagon said in a statement '' this serves national, economic and security interests of the United States of America by backing  Taiwan's efforts to renew it's armed forces and keep it's defense capabilities''.

The Pentagon pointed out that the selling deal would improve Taiwan's security and helping keep preserve the political stability and military and economic balance and progress in the region. 

While China threatened to impose sanctions on U.S. companies and entities that took part in selling weapons to Taiwan, according to spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
