Egyptian journalist: Al-Sisi's speech is Egyptian message to Turkey to reject its colonial project

In this context, the Egyptian journalist writer Mahmoud Basyouni said that al-Sisi's speech is "a sign of a strategic move imposed by developments in Libya on Egypt in particular, with the emergence of Turkish colonial ambitions in the wealth of the Libyan people."

He pointed out that this move was preceded by important indications, foremost of which is Egypt's rejection of Turkey's agreement with the Libyan Accord Government on the demarcation of maritime borders, stressing that this agreement is egregious violation of international law."

Basyouni said in a special statement to ANHA agency that what Sisi presented by reviewing the full readiness of the armed forces to carry out tasks inside and outside the borders of Egypt is a message of deterrence to all parties that are manipulating the Libyan crisis, or that they assume can exploit the world's preoccupation and occupy Libyan lands.

He added, "The speech also gave a signal that Egypt is a rational regional force working for peace, but will not remain silent in the face of any threat to its national security." He pointed out that the speech stressed that Egypt will address any new colonial projects that depend on mercenaries, terrorists and the power of weapons, and that it will be a partner in imposing calm and stability and rebuilding the Libyan international institutions after reaching a ceasefire, which means Egypt adheres to the political solution as a strategic choice, guaranteeing that all Libyan parties be represented in the solution.

Basyouni pointed out that Egypt was biased from the first moment to a political solution and was supportive of the elected and legitimate Libyan state institutions such as the Libyan Parliament, and the Cairo Declaration was a last attempt to search for peace and not to resort to military force, but Turkey's insistence on resolving the crisis through armed militias and elements Terrorist mercenaries that took them from Syria in full view of the world forced Egypt to take action to protect its western borders and strategic depth from the threats of those terrorist elements.
