4-km-long project to solve sewage problem in Al-Shaddadeh

Al-Shaddadeh people suffer from some swamps and the emission of unpleasant smells in several neighborhoods as a result of the leakage of sewage water.

These unpleasant smells are caused by the construction process in the area, the failure of the residents to clean their streets and the refuse to throw the garbage in the designated sites.

Muhammad Mulla Ali, expressed his dissatisfaction with the swamps near the residential houses and streets among neighborhoods, saying, "These swamps create unpleasant smells."

Ali pointed out that they filed several complaints to the People's Municipality to find appropriate solutions in conjunction with the summer time.

Ali stressed that the Municipality did not move regarding the expanded neighborhood. It did not show any initiative towards the problem, and continued, "The concerned authorities should intervene and solve the sanitation crisis, which has become a huge burden on the people."

Hamid Al-Khshouf pointed out that such ponds and swamps are abundant with harmful insects, which cause chronic diseases such as leishmaniasis and other diseases.

As for Mahmoud Al-Ali, he noted that the people in the affected neighborhoods will provide assistance to the municipal staff and sanitation workers to get rid of this problem.

On the complaints of the residents, a member of the People's Municipality, Alaa Al-Omar, told Hawar news agency that the municipality’s delay in solving the problem of sanitation in the residential neighborhoods in Al-Shaddadeh is due to the health embargo that has been an obstacle to the municipal projects for the current year.

Al-Omar stressed that in the next few days, an approved 4-km sanitation project will be implemented, distributed over separate networks in the district, which helps to get rid of the problem.

Al-Omar indicated that the municipality receives all the complaints of the residents and works according to its capabilities to get rid of these swamps.

It is worth noting that the People's Municipality has implemented several sanitation projects in the past years. Only several sewage remains are to be fixed within the current year plan.
