A spokesman for the German Defense Ministry told AFP that about 30 soldiers stationed in Baghdad and Taji will be transferred to Jordan and Kuwait, adding that the withdrawal "will begin soon."

Yesterday, a message from the American army was leaked, informing Iraq of taking measures to leave Iraq, but the US Defense Department denied this, saying: It does not intend to leave Iraq.

Trump had threatened, on Sunday evening, to impose "substantial" sanctions on Iraq if American forces were forced to leave, while Iran vowed "with great revenge" if it retaliated for the killing of its prominent military commander, Qassem Soleimani.
