Ahmo: Adana agreement poses threat to unity of Syrian territory

The Adana Agreement, signed on  October 20- 1998 between Turkey and Syria, aimed at undermining the political movement in Syria by linking it to the PKK. In order to implement the agreement, which was made up of several items, then Turkish President Turgut Ozal visited Damascus to improve relations with it.

Today Erdogan, after all his plans failed, uses the Adana agreement again, to occupy other lands from Syria, and annex them to Turkey and included the Iskenderun area. To learn about the dangers of this agreement to the peoples of the region and Syria, Hawar News Agency conducted an interview with a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Left Party, Aziz Ahmo.

Ahmo explained at the beginning of his speech that the outcome of that agreement was the arrest of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan by an international conspiracy.

Ahmo noted that Turkey, after all its attempts and plans to occupy the Syrian north and all its mercenaries were defeated, resorted to Adana Agreement.

He added, "Today, after all the schemes of the Turkish state failed, it is using the Adana agreement to occupy other territories from Syria and occupied Afrin, al-Bab and Jrablos."

Ahmo stressed that this agreement is a threat to the territorial integrity of Syria, because one of the provisions of the agreement between the two parties stipulates the recognition of the current borders. Thus, Turkey, like 5 Km  five kilometers, will occupy new cities , he said "Erdogan annexed Iskenderun area in addition to annexing the areas he now occupies under the agreement between the two sides."

He stressed the approval of all the peoples of northern and eastern Syria to establish a buffer zone, but not to be under the control of the Turkish occupation, but must be protected by international forces and border protection forces of the people of the region, and continued.

Ahmo said that the other danger is that Syria will be divided. This is one of the most important objectives of the Turkish occupation in the region to ensure its interests. It is also concerned about the democratic projects that the sons of Syria are trying to build.

He stressed that the people in the north of Syria, and as they defeated IS and will not allow it to control the region,and will not allow Turkey to intervene in the north of Syria as well.

At the end of his speech, a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Leftist party in Syria, Aziz Ahmo, called on people in northern Syria and all components to unite, unite and support the democratic project.
