“The Syrian Constitution must protect rights of all components”

On the recent developments in Syria, especially in Idlib and the decision of the US withdrawal from Syria, Turkey's threats to launch attacks on the north of Syria, Hawar news agency (ANHA) has met with the Syrian Democratic National Alliance’s Head in al-Shahba Mahmoud Hamdak.

At the beginning of his speech, Mahmoud Hamdak highlighted the decision of America to withdraw its forces from Syria. He said in this context, "Certainly the American presence in Syria had a role in creating balance in the region. The American exit or Trump's statement to get out of Syria was a surprise to all, because the goal of America was to eliminate IS mercenaries, and to remove Iran from Syria, but IS is still existed in the region, and the Iranian presence in Syria has not changed, therefore, its decision was hasty, especially IS does not only threaten Syria, but threatens the entire world, and therefore the elimination of IS will serve the interests of the whole world, especially Europe, which has witnessed terrorist attacks by IS.

On the Russian project to draft a constitution for Syria, Mahmoud said that the draft drafted by Russia in its current form will not solve the Syrian crisis, and said in this context, "The constitution that guarantees the rights of all components in Syria is welcome, But the draft constitution drafted by Russia will not come to a solution for Syria because the crisis in Syria is a democratic crisis, and the items contained in this draft, do not protect the rights of all components, and if applied must be modified, SDC’s project is considered the best solution to establish Autonomous Administration in all Syria not only in the north and east of it.

Mahmoud pointed out that the events in Idlib, especially the recent escalation, stemmed from the failure of Heyat Tharir al-Sham (formerly Jabhit al-Nusra), to agree on the opening of trade routes between the areas occupied by Turkey and the areas under the control of the Syrian regime, because this agreement does not serve the interests of Heyat Tahrir al-Sham, this is why we are witnessing a crisis in the situation of Idlib and clashes between the Jabhit al-Nusra and other gangs in Idlib, the terrorist gangs in Idlib, Afrin and al-Shahba areas belonging to the Turkish state, and they are implementing the agendas and policies of Turkey in the region, and we know these gangs are tools used by Turkey in the region, after approaching of IS elimination in Syria, and as Turkey hinders finding a solution to the Syrian crisis .Today it threatens to launch attacks on North Syria to undermine the gains of the people in that region through these gangs."

About the entry of the regime forces to the areas between the areas occupied by the Turkish occupation, and rural Manbij protected by Manbij Military Council he said “This step cut the way for Turkey to launch attacks on the region, especially the arguments and pretexts that Turkey claims it protects the security of its borders, and what is important here is that we are all Syrians, this region is part of Syria, and it is the duty of all Syrians to protect the Syrian territory from the occupation.

Mahmoud Hamdak, ended his speech touching upon achievements of the SDF in the region. He said, "SDF fought terrorism and liberated the region from their abomination, these forces are able to protect the people and their gains and defend the liberated lands, and will stand in the face of Turkey, which is trying to thwart the democratic experiment in North Syria.
