Yemeni government rejects putting al-Hodeidah under supervision of UN

The United Nations proposed that the Yemeni Houthi forces withdraw from the city of al-Hodeidah within the framework of the cease-fire agreement. The agreement would put al-Hodeidah under joint command.

But the foreign minister of the internationally recognized government, backed by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, Khalid al-Yamani, said that his country would not accept a UN peacekeeping mission in al-Hodeidah.

Al-Yamani said during his peace talks held in Sweden on Monday that his country accepts the role of UN in the port of al-Hodeidah, adding that the city is under the control of the Yemeni government, according to al-Arabiya reports.

As for the captives issue, three main committees were formed; the first to exchange the bodies of the two sides' killed, the second to arrange for the exchange of prisoners under the supervision and participation of the United Nations and the International Red Cross, while the third committee will begin work later on to investigate the issues of missing persons and then release any elements detained in either party whose names have not been included in the statements that have been exchanged.

As for Taiz, the discussions focused on lifting the siege and the withdrawal of the Houthi forces from the main entrances to the west and east of the city, while the Houthi side offers the possibility of opening corridors only.
