Expanded campaign against violence against women in al-Raqqa

The administrator of the Women's Department in al-Raqqa Zuleikha Abdi indicated that they will launch an extensive campaign on the World Day against Violence against Women since the women of the city of al-Raqqa are the most affected by the oppression practiced by IS who had deprived women of playing their role.

The 25th of this month marks the International Day against Violence against Women. For the first time after the liberation of the city of al-Raqqa, events will have been organized on this occasion. In this regard, ANHA agency met with the administration of the Women's administration in al-Raqqa Zuleikha Abdi who pointed out that their campaign is expanded and has many activities.

Zaleikha said, "Violence against women continues, and we as women have to fight against this violence that has been practiced against women for 5,000 years to be the women who have made of their bodies a way for all women who are subjected to domestic violence and all forms of violence that have made women oppressed."

"We will introduce the violence against women through seminars we will hold in our administrative institutions and we will explain what the violence is as women are the basis of the society," Zuleikha said.

She added, "We will hold a big demonstration on the 25th of this month, known as the International Day against Violence against Women."

She confirmed, "In the light of the democratic nation's philosophy that calls for the freedom of women and to play their leading role in society, we will set the foundation for the life of the women in al-Raqqa who have suffered from injustice, especially under the occupation of IS."
