Alwan Center embracing children of Abu Khashab camp

The seasons interchanged on the children of the Abu Khashab camp in the western suburb of Deir ez-Zor, without having a thing to fill their vacuum or a teacher obliterating the darkness of their illiteracy. It was necessary to enlighten these children and compensate them for the deprivation of education.

Alwan Center began to receive the children of the camp even at older age, bringing the number of students to 378 students, in 11 classrooms within the work plan and courses of three months each. The courses are supervised by teachers with long experience in the field of education and psychological support.

Students are divided into four levels: "Illiterate - Beginner Reader - Advanced Reader - Excellent Reader" followed by three-level computational literacy - Beginner - Advanced – Excellent level.

Educational activities also supervened activities related to psychological support and psychosocial mechanisms within a work plan. These activities are not limited to activities within the center or children exclusively, but include a group of at least 1,500 members with a collective activity that focuses on mothers and the treatment of the parents with children through psychosocial support in the form of parents' sessions.

Abdul Jalil al- Ahmad, the Director of the Center, told ANHA agency that the center provides services related to education and psychological support for children, stressing that the center works within a plan that attracts children and their families alike.

Al-Ahmad added: "We have started a collective activity for the parents of children and psychological support for adaptation, and we are seeking to develop our programs by choosing teachers who have educational leave, the competent and experienced in this field
