Jurist: Ocalan struggled for freedom, isolation against international laws

In conjunction with the anniversary of the start of the international conspiracy against the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, the issue of the isolation imposed by the Turkish state on Ocalan in Imrali prison is again highlighted. Many political, legal and social circles expressed concern about the health and safety of Ocalan in the absence of any contact with him.

The lawyer Akram Sadiq, from Dêrik city, pointed out from a human rights point of view, Ocalan has all the right as a political prisoner, including health care, and to allow his relatives, lawyers and all humanitarian organizations to visit him and see his situation, "leader Ocalan fought within an armed revolution for the rights of his people, he then put forward the idea of ending the bloody conflict, imprisoned for these rights, and as long as he was arrested for these rights, he was entitled to enjoy all his rights as a detainee.

Violations of the Turkish state are contrary to international and humanitarian law

As for the laws and unfair procedures imposed by the Turkish occupation authorities against Ocalan in his prison, including aggravated isolation, Sadiq said, "The Turkish state prevented human rights organizations to visit Ocalan and depriving them of these rights is to deprive his people of their rights. The leader is deprived of all his rights in prison, and this action is contrary to international and humanitarian laws."

He added, “The Turkish state violates international conventions in regard of prisoners, even if the prisoner is an opponent who must be granted his human right as the Turkish state claims to be a democratic state, but it is far from democracy."

The lawyer Akram Sadiq also referred to the attacks by the Turkish occupation state as well as the Iranian regime against the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan, and appealed to "international organizations and bodies to put pressure on Turkey in the attacks against the Kurdish people and its leader Abdullah Ocalan, to the Kurdish parties in Rojhilat of Kurdistan and bombed their headquarters recently in Başûr Kurdistan, these actions must be condemned by human rights organizations.
