Thousands agricultural hectares to be revived in al-Raqqa, Girê Spî

In cooperation with the "New Horizons" organization, al-Raqqa Civil Council started working on rehabilitating Rafe’ Tal al-Semen pump which irrigates thousands of hectares of agricultural lands within a ceremony held to open the project.

The ceremony of the rehabilitation of Rafe’ Tal al-Semen pump in al-Semen town was attended by representatives of the civil councils and Autonomous Administration councils, and a delegation of the International Coalition in addition to dozens of residents of the area.

At the beginning, the project of rehabilitating the pump was announced. It was followed by delivering speeches by the attendees as they begun with the speech of Hamdan al-Abed on behalf of Girê Spî Canton Council, Izzat al-Herma on behalf of the Services Committee in the Autonomous Administration, Khalef al-Ayda on behalf of the Tal al-Semen Council and Fatima Hussein on behalf of al-Suhlebia Council.

All the speeches congratulated the people of the area on starting the work on the project of rehabilitating the pump which will restore life to the people of the northern countryside area of al-Raqqa city again, and thanked those who are working in this project.

It is worth mentioning that the pump which has been subjected to acts of sabotage by IS mercenaries more than a year and a half ago was founded in 2000. It irrigates about 16,000 hectares of agricultural lands in Tal al-Semen and al-Hisha area in addition to supplying two drinking water stations that provide dozens of villages with clean water.
