Reconciliation committee in Girkê Legê is interested in social issues away from judicial decisions

The concept of judiciary and justice in in Rojava regions and North Syria is socially oriented, with the aim of involving the community in the consolidation of justice and promoting the concept of social justice and peaceful reconciliation, rather than strict laws and the concept of punishment. Thus, many institutions have been established to form social councils which task is to look into issues, problems and social claims that do not need judicial trials, and solve them by means of reconciliation and compromising

Among these institutions are the Reconciliation Committees of the women's role in the cities and regions of North Syria.

Reconciliation Committees adjunct to the councils of justice in resolving social differences

The administrator in Reconciliation Committee Hadya Abdel Wahab said that the committee is usually concerned with social issues related to women, or that women are part in them. She also pointed out that the committee does not serve as a court that issues judicial rulings, but works to resolve the problem between the parties by mutual consent and reconciliation.

114 has been solved since the beginning of the year

According to members of the Reconciliation Committee at the Women's House, 114 cases have been referred to the Reconciliation Committee since the beginning of this year, most of which are related to marital disputes, divorce cases and other issues related to alimony, inheritance, marriage of minors and polygamy. She also stressed the many issues related to violence between the family.

The cases are usually referred to the Reconciliation Committee   either directly by the opposing parties or through communes or the reconciliation committees of the district council.

The main purpose is reconciliation, compromise, protection of women's rights

On how to solve the social problems of women and the laws on which the committee depends, the administrator Abdul Wahab said, "We try our best to ensure the rights of women, in addition to reconciliation between the parties in the issues of marital differences, where we strive to prevent the divorce and maintain the family link and protect children from loss."

Hadiya added "We, as administration at the Women's House, consider ourselves part of the family and strive to help women who are afraid to report cases of violence and ensure their protection and rights."
