The Iranian Tasnim news agency quoted from the deputy of the Iranian Energy Minister Mahmoud Reda Hakki Fam saying, "We are now exporting 200 to 250 Mw of electricity to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan."

Tehran had stopped supplying Iraq with electricity for not paying bills and rising domestic consumption in the summer.

Iran partially suspended supplying electricity to Iraq in July 2016 through Kherramshahr-Basra and Karkha-al-Amar lines which have a capacity of 800 Mw, and subsequently re-operated them after the repayment of debts.

Iran supplies Iraq with 1,500 to 2,000 Mw of electricity under an agreement signed by the two countries in 2005.
