During the past two months, the Syrian areas witnessed new developments after the expansion of the Syrian regime’s influence in the Syrian south and gathering the mercenary gangs from all over the Syrian areas in Idlib through the so-called reconciliation and resolving the situation. The calls for the representatives of the Syrian North have come successively to hold a Syrian-Syrian dialogue to solve the Syrian crisis.

ANHA’s correspondents interviewed the Joint Governors’ deputy of al-Jazeera region Afram Issak to discuss the recent developments that the Syrian arena is witnessing; a state of confusion between the Turkish-Russian and American relations and the recent dialogue held between a delegation of the components of the Syrian north and a delegation of the Syrian regime in the capital Damascus in July 26 to talk about the ways of resolving the crisis and ending the war.

Issak said in the beginning of his speech, "The Syrian situation is complicated and somewhat sensitive. After an agreement was signed between the Syrian regime and the armed factions under the auspices of Russia and Turkey in al-Ghotta al-Sharqiya in Damascus, the gangs were evacuated to Idlib. The matters of Idlib and the armed gangs were also among the agreements that were held between Russia and Turkey as Russia allowed Turkey to occupy Jarablus, al-Bab, Azaz, Afrin and Idlib and to set up observation points to control the armed factions deployed there in addition to obtaining its share of the Syrian territory."

Issak pointed out that the Helsinki summit between Putin and Trump has changed the scales on the Syrian and regional arenas after both parties tried to get Turkey as an ally in their favor as a regional state affecting Syria. Issak added, "America and Russia agreed to settle their accounts with Turkey and to put pressure on it to undermine its influence in Syria, especially in Idlib, and the most recent of which was the threat of the Syrian regime forces to launch a military operation against the governorate after launching intensive aerial raids over the past two days in a step to send warning messages to Turkey that its role as a player in the Syrian crisis ended after gaining the votes in the Turkish elections and establishing a regime of a fanatical and national impression. "

Afram Ishaq said that the Turkish practices are not new in the history of the Ottoman occupation, and Turkey exerted pressure on all the co-existent components in the area. Their violations started from the Armenian, Syriac, then the Assyrian people and the last of which were the Kurdish people. Isaak continued, “They seek to impose one nationalism, flag and homeland.”

Afram Issak assured, “Afrin is a city of Syria with distinction, and most of its inhabitants are of the Kurdish component, and holds a strategic impression in the Syrian geography. Turkey has followed the policy of the demographic change against Afrin people in exchange for the silence of the international forces, and the Turkish occupation raised its flags in the center of Afrin as if it was a non-Syrian land.”

Issak also made clear that as the area is composed of a diverse fabric of components; Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians and Armenians, the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) worked on removing seditions among the components, achieved many victories during the years of war in the area and liberated through the establishment of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) most of the lands that were controlled by IS in the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.”

Afram Isaac considered the DAA a de-centralized project to solve the Syrian problem and described it as a non-separatist civilizational project implemented in several countries of the world.

As for their attitude towards the recent meeting held between the representatives of the Syrian north and the Syrian regime in the capital Damascus, Afram said, “The attitude of North Syria’s components since the beginning of the crisis has been that they are open to dialogue. They advocated the political solution to solve the crisis witnessed in the country. The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) that represents the components of the Syrian north assured its readiness for holding the dialogue several times, and put forward its democratic project as a solution to all the areas of Syria.”

Afram Issak concluded, “There is no solution to the Syrian problem without the participation of North Syria’s components in formulating the new constitution of Syria and the guarantee of the rights of the area’s components.”
