Urgent efforts to restart Ain Issa's main water pump

The water pump which located in Tal al-Samen, southeast of Ain Issa. The water is supplied by the irrigation channel of al-Balikh, one of the most important irrigation channels in Girê Spî canton, while it takes electric power from chivalry station   

The station consists of six pipes, each pumping one cubic meter of water per second, and operates by two transformers operated by electric power.

The pump irrigates 16,000 hectares of agricultural land, as well as feeding two drinking water stations in Ain Issa district, where hundreds of villages depend on it.

Tal al-Samen water pump was sabotaged by IS mercenaries before they were defeated from the area about a year and a half ago.

The reason for the disruption of the pump is the interruption of agriculture in the area, since the pump irrigates agricultural land with specially designated channels, except for the agricultural land on al-Baleikh River due to its high costs.

In this context, the farmer Ibrahim al-Hamoud says that most of the people of the area rely on agriculture for their livelihood. With the cessation of the pump, agriculture stopped, except for those who own agricultural land on the banks of al-Baliekh River.

Ali al-Amaj, a resident of Ain Issa, says that since the water pump was disrupted, they have purchased water from mobile tanks at 1000 SP for a 1,000-liter tank, which is not enough for 48 hours, especially in the hot summer.

The Administrator of the Economic Committee in ​​Ain Issa district, Saleh al-Khader had pointed out that they are currently in coordination with the organizations are working to rehabilitate the pump as it is an important vital sector supportive of the economy in the district.

Indicating that the total cost of maintenance is very large up to more than 50 million SP, they are now seeking to solve this problem.
