French Press highlights Turkish elections’ suspicions

On Sunday, about 59 million voters in Turkey and North Kurdistan are heading towards the polls to cast their votes in early and joint presidential and parliamentary elections called by AKP.

In this regard, the French Liberation newspaper titled in its issue on Sunday, "Erdogan is a crisis of doubts."

In an article published under the title mentioned above, the Turkish writer Hala Qaddemani believes that the elections are nothing more than an attempt by the Turkish state’s president to reinforce his power and strengthen his ruling which Erdogan seeks to enhance after 15 years of his post.

The elections are taking place, while the state of emergency continues to be imposed on the country after a failed coup d’état conducted against the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in mid-2016.

The French newspaper's questioning of the fairness of the Turkish elections comes just a day after an article issued by the US Foreign Policy magazine which reported that Erdogan gets used to steal the elections.

Hala Qaddemani pointed out that the resort of the Turkish authority to the elections came because of the worrying that dominated the citizens. The economic crisis started with the continued decline of the Turkish lira which decreased below 20% and the inflation rate of up to 12% on the time when 20% of the people suffer from the bitterness of unemployment.
