MUAD SALLOUM/ GIRÊ SIPÎ

The city of Girê Sipî lived under mysterious circumstances between 2012 and 2015, almost to be thrown into the abyss as a result of Turkey's ambitions to occupy the city and steal the civilization and culture of the region with the support of armed groups and the latest mercenaries urging the melting and annihilation of all the customs and cultures of the components coexisting in the region, then the People Protection Units and Women Protection Units liberated the region from the blackness of these groups, and had the region dressed another dress that glorifies coexistence.

Girê Sipî’s geographic area and its inhabitants

The village of Girê Sipî / Tal Obyad is located on the Turkish border north of the city of Raqqa, 100 km and the eastern city of Kobani, 65 km. The province of Girê Sipî with the province of Kobani, together make the Euphrates region, linking the province of Kobani with the territory of al-Jazeera in addition to that, it lies along the border with Turkey.

There is also a border crossing called Girê Sipî crossing, which Turkish counterpart is Akhja Qalaa, which was once a resource that mobilized human beings to recruit mercenaries of various nationalities, as well as its position on the River Al-Belikh (the Bride's Eye), one of the crossings where arms and explosives were received from Turkey.

The population of the province is more than 300 thousand people, according to the statistics of the Supreme Commission for Elections in Girê Sipî in 2017, within it four main components coexist "Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, and Armenians," the majority of them are Arabs, while the Kurds constitute 35% of the population.

The importance of Girê Sipî for IS mercenaries and the Turkish occupation

The liberation of the strategic town of Girê Sipî by the People's Protection Units on June 15 and the expulsion of "mercenaries" from it was a fatal blow to Daesh, which was fighting to maintain the main supply route between the city of Raqqa and the Turkish border. Girê Sipî was described as the gate to al-Raqqa, main stronghold of "IS mercenaries", and a major transit point for arms and foreign fighters as well as for the transit of oil sold on the black market to and from Turkey.

The goal of Turkey to keep mercenaries urging within the city of Girê Sipî is to cut the road and the link between the territory of al-Jazeera and the province of Kobani, a Kurdish majority, and ending the Kurdish presence and melting culture by launching an attack on the city of Kobani through an agreement between the Turkish intelligence and Daesh mercenaries, according to the mercenary Issam Eddin Adnan "Abu Mansour"the Amir of the border crossing in Tel Abyad, who was present at the meeting, and was later arrested by the People's Protection units.

Because Turkey found no ally but IS which was following the policy of intimidation in Syria to strike the components in the Girê Sipî, who were a stumbling block in front of the Turkish project aimed at undermining the will of the people and occupation of the region,

The importance of liberating Girê Sipî for the people of northern Syria

The city of Girê Sipî is of great importance to the Syrian north because of its strategic location that links all the northern regions of Syria, Al-Hasakah, Qamishlo, Seri Kanye, Raqqa, Kobani, Manbej and then Aleppo. Do not forget the cities of Al-Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor which were the reason for the cohesion of components and their connection to each other, and the integration of their cultures and customs, with their liberation the signs of spring emerged its people breathed relief from the first moment on the liberation.

Until the day, threats to the city of Girê Sipî continue years after the liberation

Violations of the Turkish occupation army that hit the city of Girê Sipî still continue today despite the liberation of the city three years ago.

On February 26, 2016, Turkish forces stationed at the border bombed the town of Hamam al-Turkmani in preparation for the introduction of Daesh terrorist groups from the border to the eastern countryside of the town Girê Sipî. On February 27, 2016, groups of mercenaries attacked a number of sites in the city of Girê Sipî.

On 3 May 2016, at which the border crossing was targeted with heavy weapons, on 15 February 2017 Turkish reconnaissance aircraft overflew the city. At the same time, the Turkish occupation army attacked the villages of Assaf, Susk and Tel Fander west of Girê Sipî, in April 2017, it launched an attack on the village of Susk in preparation for entering the village and occupy it.

"Erdogan has not left us since the liberation of our city, before he killed us with the hands of the supporters and the armed groups he supported. Today, after the liberation of the city, he is killing us and beating us in public," he said. Without the concern of the international community, human rights organizations and the United Nations as if they received green light from them.

The last violation occurred on June 7, when the border gate was attacked with heavy weapons aimed at sabotaging the gate's infrastructure and intimidating the citizens.

The liberation of Girê Sipî terminated the scheme of Turkey occupation

The liberation of Girê Sipî broke the back of IS and prevented the smuggling of arms, the sale of oil and the trade of other goods. In addition to preventing the introduction of foreign militants across the Turkish border, and evaporated Turkey's undeclared dreams in the occupation of the city and other areas on the border, and the important point it was a gate to liberate the Daesh alleged capital "Raqqa" through the liberation campaign "the Wrath of Euphrates" which was declared by the Syrian Democratic Forces two years after the liberation of Girê Sipî and in the same date through the campaign " Volcano of Euphrates" in June.

"It was impossible for Turkey to take delivery of the provinces of Kobani and Al Jazeera to each other," says mercenary Issamuddin Adnan, who served as the Emir of the border crossing to Girê Sipî with Turkey. "The loss of the organization to Girê Sipî was a painful blow to both Turkey and Daesh at the time, and all of us knew that the fall of al-Raqqa was only a matter of time."
