An association aimed to reviving Turkmen culture in Manbij

Turkmen component is one of the main components in Manbij city and its countryside. It is one of the oldest components that inhabited the area and affected other components present in the city of Arabs, Kurds and Circassians, which was denied of exercising their rights like other components during dominiting of the regime and Islamic State's gangs .

Turkmen Society of Manbij city, founded on April 25, 2018, is a cultural and social society that seeks to revive the Turkmen language in addition to preserving Turkmen customs and traditions marginalized by the ruling regimes.

Within three months of its opening, the association organized a number of activities and cultural events, including the opening of mother tongue courses in Turkmen language. Those who wish to learn Turkmen from the Arabic, Kurdish and other components in the Manbij area receive lessons on the Turkmen language.

The Association also works to form technical teams for Turkmen component. They are trained by folklore and Turkmen culture. Women play an active role in the society and contribute to spreading democratic thought and building an educated society.

With the formation of the Turkmen Society was exposed to harassment of the Turkish state and the Justice and Development Party, through the issuance of statements rejecting the work of the Assembly in Manbij area , and tried through the dissemination of some lies promoting the association belonging to Kurdish parties and ethnic, but the Turkmen Society in Manbij through its work proved that Working to maintain their customs, traditions and cultural heritage.

Fayez Haidar, administrator of the Turkmen Society of Manbij told to (ANHA) about the aim of forming the association and the cultural activities organized by the association for the children of Turkmen component in Manbij. "Manbij is distinguished by its cultural diversity as it embraces all components," he said. Fayez Haidar pointed out that Turkmen Society aims to spread free democratic thought between the Turkmen component and other components, organize society from all social aspects and spread the spirit of cooperation, encourage them to cooperate with each other and believe that free democratic action is the way to build a healthy society.

On the parties trying to create strife in the city,  administrator of the Turkmen Association Fayez Haidar said: "Any successful work must face attacks from the parties that do not fit the project for its benefit," saying that the Assembly is a civil society aimed at organizing children of the Turkmen component in the area to have a key role In building a free democratic syste."
