Al-Raqqa Local Administration Councils called for solidarity against occupation, demographic change

In conjunction with the International Day against the Turkish Invasion of Kurdistan and Afrin, the Local Administration Councils of al-Kalta, al-Asadiya, al-Mishrefat and Khenizat in the northern countryside of al-Raqqa city issued a statement to the public opinion on Saturday expressing what is going on in Syria in general and Afrin in particular.

The statement was read by the co-chair of the People's Council in Khenizat Munir al-Khalaf, in which he said:

"What is happening in Syria of destruction, displacement and demographic change serves the interests of the great and regional states. The beginning of the revolution was for freedom and democracy, but this revolution was turned into a civil, sectarian and racist war that aims to change the demography of Syria, and today, that takes place in Afrin as Afrin residents were replaced by the people of al-Ghouta and they abandoned the Kurds deliberately aiming at planting discrimination and seditions among the Syrian people.

We, as the councils of the people, denounce the Ottoman ambitions that aim at restoring the glory of the Ottoman Empire in colonizing Syria and fueling the flames of racism and strife among the Arabs, Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis, seeking to a systematic destruction of our homeland and changing Syria's demography.

We appeal to the UN organizations, the Human Rights organizations and the UN Security Council to stand against the Turkish ambitions in Syria and to take the appropriate measures to end its occupation and to dismiss the mercenary gangs allied with Turkey that kill and loot in the name of Islam from the area.
