Fight broke out, left 7 killed in Dohuk prison

A fight broke out in Dohuk prison in Kurdistan Region between Kurdish and Arab prisoners, and 8 people lost their lives and others got wounded.

According to Roj News agency a fight erupted on Saturday in the large prison of Jeksazi in Dohuk city in Kurdistan Region between the Kurdish and Arab prisoners, during which a fire broke out in a section of the prison and burned it, as the police intervened and took control of the situation.

According to the information, one of the Arab prisoners set fire to himself which extended to burning a part of the prison.

According to the information obtained by Roj News, at least, seven people lost their lives during the fight and the outbreak of fire, and 10 others got wounded.

The injured were taken to hospitals for receiving the medical treatment, and some of them are seriously wounded.

It has not been known yet why the fight broke out between the prisoners, and the security forces did not allow the media to approach the prison or the injured. Furthermore, the official authorities have not issued any statement about the incident so far.
