Naisse: Federalism unites Syria; Astana divided it with the originals’ war inception-2

Giyath Naisse, the General Coordinator of the Revolutionary Leftist Movement in Syria said that most projects proposed to solve the Syrian crisis are utter failure since they depend in the first place on the interests of the supporting states ignoring the revolting people’s aspirations and demands since 2011.

Naisse’s statements came within a prolonged interview Hawar news agency held with him about Astana 9th and the Turkish occupation and its gangs occupation to Afrin, assuring that the regime and Russia are responsible for seven years of destruction and displacement on the Syrian arena.

The second part of the interview follows:

*Many projects have been proposed on the regional, even international table to solve the Syrian crisis: de-escalation, federalism, and return to the homeland have all been discussed in detail, in your opinion, what is the best project for Syria in the future that preserves the dignity, rights and freedom of speech of the components?

Solutions’ projects essentially depend on interests

Many projects have been proposed but they revolved around formal modifications in the current regime’s structure; to produce it again which is catastrophic and worn out.

There are also other projects that call for a regime similar to that established after American invasion of Iraq in 2003, or the Lebanese regime; a regime based on sectarian sharing, of course, such projects insult the Syrian revolution’s sacrifices and its goals in achieving freedom, dignity, justice and equality.

For the Revolutionary Leftist Movement, we proposed in 2011 an agenda to form an interim revolutionary government, one of its goals is conducting free elections to elect a founding society on the basis of relativity and Syria is a single circle where pluralism prevails, since we were still new in the field, no one listened.

Federalism heals the rift of division in Syria

Finally, the comrades in the Democratic Autonomous Administration proposed the project of Federalism which stirred babel and misunderstanding in the ranks of opposition as hostile positions to the project flew successively by the “liberal, nationalistic, and Muslim Brotherhood” opposition calling it a separatist one.

There is a misunderstanding and vicious intention in the subject of federalism as a linguistic and political term which means a federation to unite what is divided, not dividing what is united, have we looked at the tragic status quo, we find that Syria is divided into control areas since 6 years.

Therefore, I understand the way the comrades in the Autonomous Administration propose the federalism, but I believe that it should be explained patiently for the people, and put within the context of our people’s experience, needs, future and interests as it allows reunification on political, social, progressive, and democratic grounds.

No political solution without all components’ rights guarantee

I strongly believe that a democratic, social, political solution is impossible without Kurdish people and other nationalities’ rights recognition, and I think that the future of democracy and freedom in our country rests on the Kurdish cause solution in all countries that have shared Kurdistan.

Democracy cannot be achieved in our country without solving the Kurdish cause; here the necessity of decentralization or federalism poses itself to unite the Syrian land and peoples, considering their nationalistic, religious and racial diversity, on democratic and progressive bases.

*Daesh’s final pockets are almost eliminated by the Syrian Democratic Forces, do you expect a new international cooperation to fight Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other factions affiliated to the Turkish occupation like the Turkstani Islamic Party and Ahrar al-Sham on the black list, or will they remain a pretext to be used when needed?

Turkey’s aim, schemes are to abort the democratic project in north Syria

It is true Daesh was militarily defeated and deteriorated a great deal since its great defeat in Kobani before the heroic resistance, while Daesh domination in 2013, 2014 was a clear indication of the movement’ retreat and the revolution’s defeat, but the political and social reasons that allowed IS to grow would also provide the proper environment for the continuation and emergence of new fascist organizations of the like.

As for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham(the terrorist Jabhit al-Nusra), having all its battalion gathered in Idlib makes it greatly a problem with only two options left; either to submit to Turkish occupation’s orders and instructions like the other factions, or it will be forcibly subjugated; explosions and assassinations are a clear indication of that, while the regional and international states may use it a pretext to militarily  intervene in our country. I think that the occupation’s mobilization of these factions including Jabhit al-Nusra under its command is a policy to organize its gangs aiming to launch attacks on north Syria and the Autonomous Administration; this is its next goal. 

At the same time, Idlib has turned into a massive camp for refugees and obscurantist fighters from different region of Syria, now including three million people within a narrow geographical region where tension and explosion factors aggravate every moment, to become as a “steam pan”, and this is what Turkey fears since it blows up its aforementioned project.

*The opposition’s status is no better than Daesh at all, as its domination over the Syrian territories has decreased to 40%, while the opposition-held areas are perfectly under Turkey’s control facing Turkification policy similar to that of the Ottomans’, in addition to risks of being annexed, had the scenario been implemented, will the regime, allied with Russia, give the green light to the Turkish occupation, or the mercenaries who entered with the Turkish occupation are the reason, what will its repercussions on the Mideast map be?

Uniting the Syrian revolutionary energies and building a pluralistic, democratic system

From my point of view, the main concern of the regime is staying in office even if controlling a small part of Syria, its problem was with the rebel-held areas posing a threat in the past years, but with the Iranian and Russian support, it could dominate most of the opposition’s pockets; particularly in the Damascene, Homs, and Hama countryside. Every time the regime gets a chance to expand its domination, it will brutally do.

As for Turkey, I see, unlike Syrian opponents, the Turkish occupation is not temporary, the Turkish occupation army would not voluntarily get out of our land; Iraq, Cyprus, Iskenderun proved this fact, as it always politically, administratively, culturally, and economically connects occupied areas to it, this is a settlement kind of imperialism.  

The Turkish occupation is trying to gather all the sectarian, progressive armed factions in what they call “the National Army”, but these factions are completely under Turkish command operating as mercenaries, they do not have the least independent will, I guess the goal of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries is aborting the experience of the Autonomous Administration in north Syria.

Our missions’ agenda proposes unification of the democratic powers in all Syria to fight the occupation, whatever party it is, and kicking all the sectarian and foreign militias out of our country, and building a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized system on the ruins of dictatorship.

Anyway, whatever the balance power leant for the revolution’s multi-side conflicting powers, it is our duty to continue popular struggle and organize and unite the masses, the support point in this project is the future democratic project is Autonomous Administration in north Syria.

*The social rift caused after Afrin occupation and Turkish occupation’s attempts to stir sectarianism in the Syrian street, particularly after preventing Afrin resident to return to their homes and settlement of Eastern al-Ghouta instead, all this deepens the demographic change and sectarianism, what is the Turkish goal from these operations?

Russia and the regime are responsible for seven years of destruction and displacement

Syria has witnessed in the past seven years vast forced displacement for millions of citizens, estimated to reach half of Syria’s population, the great responsibility lies on the back of the regime first, and the sectarian powers and shelling and killing of the beasts particularly Russia, and not al-Ghouta’s civilians who were tragically displaced to Idlib and Afrin and others. 

Displacement and settlement operations is Turkey, the regime and their allies’ policy who are manipulating our country and people’s lives and future serving narrow selfish interests.

The solution is every citizen returns to hometown and land to live in freedom and dignity, this requires victory over all the conflicting revolution’s powers, this cannot achieved only by calling to the fraternity of peoples for all the masses in Syria to live in justice and equality within a free, pluralistic, decentralized, democratic, socially just Syria.
