Naisse: Federalism unites Syria; Astana divided it with the originals’ war inception-1

The General Coordinator of the Revolutionary leftist Movement Giyath Naisse stated in a prolonged interview Hawar news agency held with him that Astana 9 recently held is mere redrawing, dividing of the domination areas among Russia, Turkey and Iran, noting that the Syrian war has entered a new phase of escalation, that is, the war of the originals instead of the proxies.

The General Coordinator of the Revolutionary leftist Movement Giyath Naisse said that the Federalism aims to unite what is already divided pointing to the Turkish movements and schemes in the region which target the distinct democratic project in north Syrian embodied in the Democratic Autonomous Administration, in addition to implementing the settlement policy in Afrin.

This is the first part of the interview:

*The Syrian crisis has entered a new phase with official Turkish occupier’s entry into the Syrian territories and holding the 9th round of Astana, what could the Syrian political arena witness in the coming phase?  

It is clear that Syria has been divided between regional and international states, Astana agreement between Iran, Russia and Turkey played a role in redrawing domination areas, where Turkey forced the armed faction to withdraw from eastern Aleppo to the regime and its allies for Turkish occupation of Jarablus, Azaz and al-Bab, the last of which is the Eastern Ghouta, other areas of the Damascene, Homs and Hama countryside for the Turkish army’s occupation of Afrin.

The Syrian scene clearly divided into semi-independent areas, there appears different forms of political and military domination, where the junta system has dominated on 60% of the Syrian territories like the Syrian south where Jordanian-American domination prevails with Israeli intervention, and areas like Jarablus, Idlib, and Afrin are controlled by the Turkish occupation.

On the other side, a completely distinct experience has emerged in north and northeast of Syria, very contrary to what is going on elsewhere since it rests on a different political and social base; popular participation and democratic horizons, and here I mean Rojava experience.

Role of democratic forces must be reinforced in Syria

The existence of the Global Coalition in eastern Syria to fight IS as the American administration says does not flaw this experience, as SDF’s alliance with the Global Coalition is restricted to the military side; to tactically fight Daesh, but one must keep in mind that the American administration is not a reliable ally, as it has over and over again proven this fact; temporary alliance is of a military type and is defined in fighting Daesh’s fascism.

This experience, though welcomed internationally, unfortunately, it was not so internally, this is one of the weakness factors to democratic and revolutionary forces which requires that alliance should reinforced with those democratic and social forces more effectively, otherwise, this diaspora will weaken us in the face of different opposing multi-head sides.

Amid the absence of coherent and effective popular and political role of the democratic powers, the country faces two possibilities; the first is states reach understandings to maintain each their interests opening way for the “political solution track” imposed on the Syrians. While the other possibility is conflict and competence aggravate, and the military situation deteriorates and the war intensifies on our people’s blood. In both possibilities, those beasts lack the slightest care to the interest or blood of the Syrians and their calls for freedom.

*The dangerous status quo experienced now in Syria; proxy war terminated, and states’ war officially begun, Israel is beating Iran, Russia is silent, the regime decries, the US gives the green light, Turkey persists its occupation in the Syrian north in coordination with several parties, and Daesh is almost eliminated, where will the Syrian file reach?

Conflict and competence amongst the regional and international beasts over interrelated interests hava turned into a war of the original parties than proxies.

Not all the allies involved in the Syrian mess totally agree on mutual interests and goals in Syria, but they do agree on two basic causes: aborting the Syrian popular revolution, which has been achieved, while the other has not been fulfilled yet: curtailment of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Rojava which most states seek through flamboyant speeches.

The world is turning a blind eye to Afrin occupation

Despite the fact that Turkey and the United States are members in the NATO, we find some a distinction in their interests, had the US closed its eyes to Turkish occupation of Afrin, with Russian blessing, it would not, at least now, permit that to Manbij and north Syria.

The Turkish occupation to Afrin was an example on the Russian-American competence over interests and influence in Syria, as it did not prevent them from facilitating Turkish occupation even though both have their own goals.

We, in the Revolutionary leftist Movement, have proposed since the imperial and regional intervention in our country “No Moscow, no Washington, no Riyadh, no Doha” since we perceive the sole compass to our struggle is people’s liberation and their interests, our duty is to express and defend their struggle and goals in every square and place, and depend on our people’s energies and  organize them in order to emancipate them from despotism, exploitation and occupation. 

*You were a pioneer of the peaceful movement in March 2011, and your insight was political and peaceful, what difficulties await the Syrian solution in Syria amid occupation’s intervention?

Constructing a unified front for democratic, revolutionary and popular forces

The general aspect of the popular revolution in the first year was peacefulness, but its militarization lies in the barbaric brutality of the regime against the protesters; moreover, thousands of dissidents have split refusing to shoot protesters.

In addition to that, intervention of the regional forces for the interest of the regime, reactionary, sectarian, and jihadist militias weakened the revolution and the peaceful popular movement little by little till was terminated.

The catastrophe is that Syria has become a country divided among influence zones of major and regional states, where the people, over seven years, have been killed, displaced, weakened and led to starvation, all this makes “political solution” possible at the moment in accordance with agreements by the regional and international beasts.

Anyway, the priority today is building a unified front for the democratic, revolutionary and popular forces to organize ranks, struggle for the country and its people’s freedom, and most importantly to learn from the seven-year-war lesson, and work on changing the powers balances for the construction of multiple, equal, free Syria where social justice prevails.

The De-escalation zones had the biggest share of fierce military operations by the regime and its allies, its people were displaced, what are the true dimensions of Astana agreement after Turkish occupation of Afrin and getting al-Ghouta, Harasta and al-Rastin people out?

The Turkish occupation is implementing the policy of settlement in Afrin

It is clear that Astana conference since a year ago is organizing Turkey, Russia, and Iran’s competence and drawing domination zones for each, under the pretext of guarantor states, they shared and exchanged the land and people in this area while its people turned into a mere card in their hands playing with their blood and fate as they wish.

The displaced from al-Ghouta and others, civilians or fighters, had no option but to be deported to Idlib and amassed there, thus Idlib become a time bomb.

The Turkish imperial policy which conducts demographic change not only is enemy to the Syrian people, history, and future, but it is essentially planting the seeds of sectarian conflicts and endless civil wars.

We must expose and resist those imperial policies which tear societies apart and handicap popular unity for the sake of occupants’ interests and goals.

*the Turkish-Russian relations are in noticeable progress, particularly after Afrin occupation with Russian consent, their negotiations are ongoing about Idlib, the last of which is forming a Turkish faction to please Russia, what is the future of these relations?

Turkish-Russian relations are temporary

The Turkish occupation to Afrin was carried out with Putin’s regime giving the green light, amid American inaction, so Idlib was Turkey share from Astana agreements, now the Turkish occupation is trying to build a national army from the remains of the factions which are in essence sectarian and terrorist in its vast majority.

Thus, it is trying to beautify the mercenary factions fighting with it, but labels change nothing since they lack will and decision where the Turkish occupation has the last word in the areas occupied.

People have been fed up with the oppressive and hideous practices fo the Turkish occupation army and its gangs as they took to streets to protest, this state should be supported.
As for Turkish-Russian relations, and so is Iran, there are not really allies, but there is now an interest joint among them, I do not think this situation will last for long.

These states’ interests are not identical in Syria: Turkey is an essential and historic member in the NATO, despite its differences with the US, it would not give up its strategic interests with the Unites States, neither will the latter give up Turkey, de facto, the American administration in Syrian Democratic Forces’ support against Daesh explains Erdogan’s regime fury, since the Turkish regime’s obsession is Kurds which is an incurable nerve to it!

Consequently, the relation between these states goes in accordance with the special interests of each, though contradicting but at the expense of the region’s peoples and their future.
