12 killed, 33 wounded in blast targeted polling station in Afghanistan

A blast targeted polling registration center in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday as the blast resulted in killing 12 people and injuring 33 people.

Khost Police’s chief Abdul Hannan Zadran told France press agency (AFP) that a bomb was put in a tent which was used as voters registration center in a mosque’s square, and it was blasted when a crowd of people gathered outside the mosque to register their names.

The head’s deputy of the Public Health Department in the state Gul Muhammad Mangal said that at least 12 people were killed and 33 injured in the explosion.

He noted, "Some of the injured are in critical condition, and ambulances are still bringing other victims." ​​

The attack comes after two attacks were launched in the capital Kabul in April 30 by IS mercenaries causing the kill of 25 people among them 9 journalists.

The attacks aimed at disrupting the legislative elections scheduled in October 20.
