Roads leading to capital in Armenia closed

The leader of the protesting movement Nicole Pashinyan launched a campaign of civil disobedience in Armenia, while protesters closed the entrances of the capital Yerevan and a road leading to the airport.

According to Reuters agency, the ruling Republican Party thwarted the effort of Pashinyan to take over the post of prime minister on Tuesday.

The agency quoted from one of the people who closed the road that leads to the airport saying, "We will stay here," noting that they also closed several roadblocks in the center of the city.

Pashinyan said in a speech to tens of thousands gathered in the capital on Tuesday that starting from Wednesday morning at 8:15, his supporters will start blocking the roads and railways in addition to disrupting the airports.

Pashinyan told his supporters in the Republic Square in the capital, Yerevan, "We will close the streets, airports, subway lines, railways, and everything can be disabled."

Pashinyan led a massive demonstration in the country, and the President Serzh Sargsyan who is close to Moscow resigned last week in the result of the demonstration.
