1st women's market opened in Rojava

A ceremony was held on Monday on the occasion of opening the market, and hundreds of women from Dêrik and representatives of civil society organizations, councils and communes in the area participated in this ceremony.

Before the beginning of the ceremony, the audience held a minute of silence. Then, the administrator in Kongra Star in al-Jazeera region Walida Boti delivered a speech in which she said, "The real economy is based on the ethics, work and hard work of women who were the pioneer in the development of the economy throughout history, capital systems have transformed the economy which has evolved through the efforts of women historically into a tool for exploiting women and oppressed peoples through stock exchanges, black markets and the monopoly practiced by traders."

Walida continued, "Thanks to the ideology and philosophy of the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan, women have organized themselves in all fields in terms of economic, political, military and other fields. Thanks to this organization, a market for women has been opened today. The market will be managed by women and all the workers would be women. "

After that, the Young Women Department of Judy band related to Dijla Center for Culture and Art in Dêrik presented a bunch of folkloric songs.

That was followed by cutting the opening band by the mothers of the martyrs, to announce the opening of the market officially.

Bibula market includes 21 shops run by women, and all people have the right to go shopping there and buy their necessities.
