The leaflets were distributed in the main streets and the central market in al-Tabqa city, as well as the civil institutions.

This process is intended to highlight the dangers of smoking, which may cause to humans.

"When one realizes that what he is seeking is an obstacle in itself if he looks at people around him who are trading everything in order to get the ban, but-perhaps- the speech is deep, the most meaningful sense lies; however, in heart," the text of the leaflets said.

The leaflet shed light on the health and economic impact of smoking on society and focused in particular on the disadvantages of smoking for women, especially pregnant women.

According to a classification conducted by the Institute of health metrics and the evaluation at Washington University, Syria ranked fifth in Middle East in terms of the highest prevalence of smoking in Middle East.

This is due in 2014.

According to other studies, the average of smoking per capita in Syria reached 1,013 cigarettes per year per adult.

"The aim of the distribution of leaflets is" to educate the community and women to be a conscious society and to tell every woman who has quit smoking, especially pregnant women, "stop smoking".
