Workshop on youths' role in building new Syria

In the framework of its focus on the role of youth in the reconstruction and development process, the Youth Office of the Syrian Homeland Party organized a workshop on Tuesday entitled "From Dream to Reality… Youth Are the Pillars of Building the New Syria." The workshop, held at the party's center in Hasaka city, brought together a number of young people from various disciplines, among them human rights activists, civil society representatives.

The workshop opened with listening to the participants' views on the state of university infrastructure, the costs students bear during their four years of study, and the most significant challenges they face in the educational field.

The participants also addressed the problem of limited job opportunities after graduation, and the resulting high rates of unemployment, emigration, and loss of hope, passion, and confidence among young people. They emphasized the importance of reinforcing vocational education as a supportive option for the labor market and future employment opportunities.

Following the workshop, Malak al-Ahmed; the administrator at the Syrian Homeland Party's Youth Office, delivered a lecture covering two main themes. The first theme was under the title "Empowering Youth as a Fundamental Approach to Reconstruction," while the second was "Youth Engagement in Building the New Syria from Role to Influence."

The first session focused on the importance of providing young people with genuine opportunities for active participation in political, economic, and social spheres, emphasizing the need to move beyond mere formal participation to a leading and effective role that contributes to the nation-building process.

The lecture also highlighted the competitive advantages of young people, as they constitute the largest segment of society and are the most open to change and technology. It identified three main dimensions for empowering them: political, social, and educational.

The first session also addressed the most significant challenges facing young people within the political, social, and educational spheres, including limited opportunities, weak participation in decision-making, and economic challenges that impact their educational and living standards.

The second session of the dialogue, "Youth Engagement in Building the New Syria," focused on the necessity for young people's transition from a participatory role to leading initiatives and decision-making processes that contribute to reconstruction.

The session explored tools for activating their role through volunteer work, entrepreneurship, and promoting social cohesion, while emphasizing the importance of supporting young people's ideas and building confidence in their abilities to empower them as true makers of the future.

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in building the new Syria, and the necessity of supporting their energies and potential in a way that contributes to reinforcing the development and reconstruction process.
