Zenobia Women's Gathering Council: We stand firmly against all forms of violence

Samira Habash, the spokesperson for the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Tabqa canton, spoke about the council's efforts to eliminate violence against women, and mentioned their organization of a group of events on the occasion of (November 25), the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Samira Habash confirmed that the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Tabqa brings together all women under its umbrella and works to unify their ranks, raise their level of awareness, as well as encourage them to face challenges and obstacles, and reject the decisions and rulings imposed on them that limit their roles.

When any woman is subjected to any form of violence, the Council intervenes to protect the abused, as Samira pointed out, who confirmed that their goal is to inform women of their true identity, that they have active and influential roles in building societies, and to restore confidence in their abilities and enhance them within the scope of self-protection.

Economic violence is one of the many challenges facing women. In this context, the Zenobia Women's Gathering is very active in reducing this phenomenon, by empowering women economically and supporting them with small and large projects, and allowing every woman to work and depend on herself to meet her needs on her own. In this context, Samira explained, and said that on the social and awareness levels, the Council's reconciliation committee works to review social issues and resolve family disputes with full consideration for women's rights and their protection, while the training committee works to open intellectual and awareness courses, in addition to visiting homes and dialogue with families. As for the health committee, it contributes to spreading health awareness among the population.

In light of the political achievements made by women in the North and East Syria region, and their remarkable steps in this field, which are due to great sacrifices, Samira Habash said: “The North and East Syria region has been exposed for years to attacks by ISIS mercenaries, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, where women were the most suffering and fell victim to violence. However, they fiercely resisted these attacks, and what has been achieved today on the ground is based on a deep and extended women’s struggle.”

Regarding the events and activities organized on the occasion of November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women), Samira Habash pointed out the launch of a wide campaign in the North and East Syria region during the period from (November 10-25), which includes activities to introduce the term violence, its forms and its effects on society and women, in addition to opening training courses for men with the aim of changing the male mentality, as well as going out in marches in support of women, especially those who are abused.

Samira Habash, the spokesperson for the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, addressed a message in which she addressed all women, and said: "We are always there to support each other and stand by every abused woman and support her until she gets justice. We stand firmly against all forms of violence and pledge to continue our struggle until it is completely eliminated."
