DEIR EZ-ZOR

Today, the Zenobia Women’s Gathering issued a statement denouncing the attack that targeted its center in Abu Hamam town, Deir ez-Zor, which resulted in the complete burning of the building on Wednesday, October 15.

The statement was read by the gathering's administrator, Sahar Al-Mustafa, in the presence of its members, in front of the gathering's center in Al-Kasra city.

The gathering described the attack as “a new chapter in the attempts by forces of darkness seeking to instill fear and terror in the hearts of women and silence their free voices.”

The statement also praised the role of women in North and East Syria: “Women in North and East Syria, and in Deir ez-Zor in particular, have proven their ability to resist and build. They were at the forefront of the battles to liberate the region from ISIS terrorism, sacrificing some of their finest daughters as martyrs.”

It emphasized that the blood of the martyrs remains a beacon guiding the struggle of the Zenobia Women’s Gathering, noting that targeting the gathering's headquarters is an attack “on every free woman working to build a democratic society” and an attempt to “undermine the will of organized women.”

The gathering reaffirmed its resilience, stating: “We will not yield to any threat or intimidation. We will continue our diligent work in organizing, educating, and empowering women to actively participate in all fields.” It pledged to continue the path of struggle and resistance until building a free, democratic society grounded in justice and equality.

The gathering also renewed its call to all institutions and social components—including elders, dignitaries, intellectuals, and civil society organizations—to firmly oppose attempts to sow discord that threaten peace and security in the region and to support women’s struggle against these systematic attacks.

The statement concluded by paying tribute to the martyrs: “Glory and eternity to our martyrs who paved the way for freedom with their blood,” and by repeating the slogan: “Shame on anyone who tries to break the will of a free woman.”
