Yuksekdag after visit of Imrali delegation: We are ready to fulfill our responsibility for peace

The former co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party, Vigen Yuksekdag, who was detained in Kandera prison in Kocaeli state, Turkey, said, "On the occasion of the visit of the Equality and Peoples' Democracy Party delegation to Imrali, I send my love, respect and greetings, first and foremost to democratic public opinion, our people and our women." 

After the visit of the Equality and Peoples’ Democracy Party delegation, led by Serri Seriye Under, Perwin Buldan and Ahmet Turk, Vigen Yuksekdag wrote to her, in a post on the (X) platform, “We are going through a critical stage for our country and the region. Our people need peace, justice and democracy more than ever.”

We are with Abdullah Ocalan

Vigen Yuksekdag added: “At this crucial moment in history, Mr. Ocalan’s attempt to take the initiative is valuable and decisive. We support this effort and will to find a solution. It does not matter where we are. We can be inside, outside, or have different ideas, this does not constitute an obstacle to carrying out our duty. We are ready to carry out our responsibility for the sake of decent peace and the movement for a democratic solution.”

“Social dynamics must take the lead”

She also wrote: “The people of Turkey, the workers, the forces of freedom and women are the main champions of peace.”

She continued to say: “For this reason, all social dynamics must take the initiative for the sake of brotherhood and peace among peoples. The path to achieving democratic rights, work and bread lies in taking the initiative. We women should not hesitate to develop the movement for a democratic solution for the Kurdish issue. We will cooperate and coordinate with everyone who makes the effort. Our request is to provide suitable working conditions for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan, and for him to perform his role as a solution effectively.”

Emphasizing that a positive and objective approach will be the most decisive step in resolving the historical issue, she said: “I hope that together we will welcome the spring of peoples, peace and equality.”
