Writer urges Turkish authorities to halt hostile policies, embrace concrete peace measures

 In an exclusive interview with ANHA agency, Rasul condemned the Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) government for escalating hate-driven rhetoric against Kurdish communities in Northern Kurdistan and intensifying military assaults on populations in North and East Syria, even as Ankara professes commitments to peace. 

 Rasul argued that shifting global dynamics—including the destabilization of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Israel’s targeted strikes on Hezbollah, and Turkey’s internal political crises—have compelled Ankara to recalibrate its strategy, prompting rare diplomatic overtures such as the recent dialogue with imprisoned the leader Abdullah Ocalan. However, he stressed that such gestures remain superficial without substantive policy shifts. 

 “Peoples across the region are no longer deceived by the Turkish state’s duplicitous narrative, which masks its foundation in political annihilation, massacres, and occupation,” Rasul stated. “While current circumstances have forced Ankara to feign dialogue, its mentality remains entrenched in coercion and violence.” 

 Rasul underscored that mere engagement with Ocalan is insufficient, citing the absence of concrete measures to dismantle the “system of torture and annihilation” imposed on the Kurdish leader since his 1999 incarceration. He further criticized Turkey’s refusal to halt its campaigns of political genocide, arbitrary detentions in Kurdish-majority regions, and cross-border military operations in Syria. 

 “The AKP’s actions breed distrust and chaos,” Rasul asserted. “Its policies oscillate between hollow peace overtures and relentless warfare, perpetuating a cycle of violence to consolidate power. If Turkey genuinely seeks peace, why does it persist in hate speech and demands for surrender? It must end its escalatory tactics and prioritize resolution.” 

 The analyst warned that Turkey’s refusal to abandon its “genocidal mindset” risks igniting widespread civil unrest within its own borders. He emphasized that monoethnic authoritarianism and single-party hegemony—policies increasingly rejected by global populations—are unsustainable. “Continued aggression against the Kurdish people will detonate a powder keg of popular fury inside Turkey,” Rasul cautioned.
