Women's Delegation from NE, Syria discusses fundamental issues in Berlin

The women's delegation from North and East Syria continues its meetings in the German capital, Berlin, as part of a European tour aimed at highlighting developments in the Syrian crisis.

During meetings with representatives of the Left Party, the Green Party, and the Christian Democratic Union, the delegation discussed the overall situation in Syria and the violations committed against Syrian communities during the transitional period following the fall of the Ba'ath regime.

Discussions also touched on the situation in North and East Syria and the March 10 Agreement, as well as violations committed by the Turkish state in the occupied areas, such as the cutting down of olive trees, targeting places of worship, and looting of archaeological sites, in addition to attacks on the Tishrin Dam and the blocking of the Euphrates River.

The attendees also addressed violations affecting the Syrian coast, including arson attacks in the coastal areas and Homs, emphasizing the need to guarantee the rights of all communities in the new Syria and to prosecute and hold accountable the perpetrators.

In their meeting with the Christian Democratic Party, the delegation discussed relations between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the transitional government in Syria, in addition to women's issues and the upcoming Syrian parliamentary elections. Focus was also placed on the ongoing threats from ISIS mercenary cells, the situation in al-Hol Camp, and the need to compel countries to repatriate their nationals.

The delegation emphasized the need for effective international intervention to support the political process in Syria and implement the provisions of the March 10 Agreement, ensuring the establishment of a decentralized system that achieves justice for all communities, while emphasizing the central role of women in any future political settlement.

These meetings are part of a European diplomatic tour launched by the women's delegation to North and East Syria on September 6. During the tour, the delegation met with a number of human rights and women's organizations, as well as representatives and members of the French parliament. They also participated in lectures and cultural and artistic festivals.

The delegation includes Amina Omar, administrator of the Women's Council in North and East Syria; Mona al-Youssef, spokesperson for the Syrian Women's Council; Shahrazad al-Jassem, spokesperson for the Zenobia Women's Gathering; Jian Hussein, a member of Kongra Star Coordination Committee; and Georgette Barsoum, head of the Syriac Women's Union.
