Women's Coordination Committee emphasizes importance of Kurdish unity to preserve Rojava's achievements

The mercenaries of the Syrian Interim Government have continued their attacks on Rojava and North and East Syria since January 16th, committing massacres and violations against the Kurds. To counter these attacks, the Autonomous Administration declared a general mobilization and called on the Syrian Democratic Forces to resist. Kurdish youth across Kurdistan responded to the call to arms and headed to Rojava to defend it.

In this context, Ruken Ahmed, a member of the Women's Coordination Committee in North and East Syria, affirmed that the attacks targeting Kurdish areas in Rojava aim at genocide, breaking the will of the Kurds, and erasing their identity. She noted that despite the attacks on Kurdish areas in the cities of Kobani and Hasakah in Rojava, the Kurds are achieving significant victories thanks to their strong will and belief in their cause.

Ruken Ahmed emphasized that Kurdish unity across all parts of Kurdistan is essential to protecting the gains achieved in Rojava. She stressed the need for Kurds to continue taking to the streets and standing against attempts to erase their identity and their struggle to demand their legitimate rights.

She called on Kurds throughout Kurdistan to offer their support to the Kurds in Rojava with one voice, saying, "We need Kurdish unity, and women must lead it."

Ruken Ahmed pointed out that the attacks and war being waged against Rojava are a capitalist and authoritarian war, describing it as a "nightmare" for societies. She affirmed that societies need to make sacrifices and struggle to be rid of these wars. Ruken Ahmed highlighted the support of Kurds in other parts of Kurdistan who attempted to cross the border in northern Kurdistan to defend Rojava against attacks, as well as Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan, and young people from southern Kurdistan who entered Rojava in response to the general mobilization call.

In closing, Ruken Ahmed, a member of the Women's Coordination Committee in North and East Syria, appealed to young Kurds in European countries to return to Kurdistan and defend it, especially Rojava, which now needs its gains protected.
