Mass protests in Van, Mardin condemn attacks on Rojava

The rally in the city of Van in Northern Kurdistan began in front of a shopping center, where participants chanted slogans such as “Long Live the Resistance of Rojava” and “Long Live the Freedom of Leader Apo,” before heading to Musa Anter Park.

The rally was attended by the Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party, Keskin Bayindir. Protesters expressed their rejection of the attacks carried out by mercenaries of the Syrian interim government.

At Musa Anter Park, a final statement was read out by the co-chair of the DEM Party in Van, Gülşen Kurt, alongside the dismissed co-mayor of Van Metropolitan Municipality, Neslihan Şedal, who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee.

Later, Bayindir delivered a speech, stressing that the Rojava issue does not concern Kurds in Rojava alone but all Kurdish people, noting that policies of denying Kurdish rights are still ongoing.

Bayindir said: “It must be known that we are here, and we will continue the resistance until the end. The decision to attack Rojava was not made in Damascus, but in Ankara, and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham continues to follow the path of ISIS.”

He added that the Kurdish people are demanding a solution based on freedom and peace, emphasizing: “We will remain in the squares until the people of Rojava speak their word and gain their rights. We march for humanity, for the freedom of our people, and for peace.”

The rally concluded with chants and slogans supporting Rojava and the resistance.

Mardin

In the same context, the Platform of Democratic Institutions in Mardin organized a rally in the town of Şemrex (Shamrakh).

During the rally, DEM Party MP for Mardin, Salihah Aydiniz, delivered a speech affirming that the Kurdish people will not take a single step back unless a solution is achieved in Rojava, saying: “Rojava has written history and has become a light for the entire world.”

The rally ended with slogans such as: “Long Live the Resistance of Rojava,” “Rojava and Rojhilat Kurdistan Are One Homeland,” and “Long Live the Resistance of Kobani.”
