Widespread protests in As-Suwayda against "new government"

Dozens of protesters took to the streets and squares in the city of As-Suwayda to express their firm rejection of the announcement of the formation of the new Syrian government headed by Ahmad al-Shara.

The protesters raised banners bearing slogans denouncing the "government" and describing it as an extension of a "dictatorial regime" seeking to control state institutions without regard for the people's true demands.

The demonstrators also demanded comprehensive constitutional justice that ensures the representation of all national components, emphasizing the importance of building a state based on citizenship and equality, away from exclusion and marginalization.

Activist Khaled al-Abdullah described the government formation as "illegitimate" and not "representative of the people as a whole," but rather representing only a specific faction of the current government's followers. He emphasized that the constitutional declaration under which this government was formed lacks legitimacy, considering that these measures were commissioned by an international government that does not possess legitimacy, deepening the political crisis and increasing the state of instability in the country.

In the same context, activist Wathiq al-Hanawi pointed out that the current government is being managed from abroad, emphasizing that the constitution it relied on was formed according to old dictates that served the previous regime or individuals with direct connections to the regime. He added that this situation is reproducing the same political scene that has caused successive crises over the past years.
