British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Vice President of the US Jay D. Vance are hosting an assembly of European and US national security advisers today, confirmed Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office.

He added the summit will be "a turning point to discuss the progress that needs to be made in order to produce a just and lasting peace" in Ukraine, after a telephone conversation between Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Starmer and Zelensky discussed Trump's proposals to end the war in Ukraine ahead of an August 15 telephonic negotiations between US and Russian presidents in Alaska.

The spokesman elaborated: "The Prime Minister spoke to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy earlier today. about this morning's meeting of the European, Ukrainian, and US national security advisers chaired by the British Foreign Secretary and the US Vice President."

He went on to add: "They welcomed the fact that this meeting would be an important forum on which to make progress towards a lasting and a just peace."
