We must focus on our future in order to strongly protect gains of our revolution

The co-chair of the Armenian Social Council, Arif Kasabian, spoke to ANHA agency about ensuring women's rights and the importance of their participation in building the new Syria.

Aref Qasabian explained that women must protect their rights and the rights of their peoples, saying: "Women are fighting to protect their rights and the rights of their peoples." Kurdish, Arab, Armenian, and Assyrian women, as well as all groups and sects, can protect their rights. Because the state does not protect women's rights. Inside the state, there is no democracy. Women must act with complete freedom, express their opinions freely, and ensure their rights.

She affirmed that women can play a pivotal role in shaping the new Syrian constitution, and added: "The women of North and East Syria have been a role model for all women around the world." We, as women, must all demand our rights with one voice. The patriarchal mentality is unacceptable. "We will fight to obtain our rights and fulfilll our role."

Aref pointed out that women will work hard to develop the future and civilization of Syria, and reminded that Syria has an ancient civilization, and that women have played roles in many fields, even holding leadership positions in the country, affirming that this is still possible today.

She also recalled the names of some female fighters, saying: "Jamila Bouhired, Sanaa Mehaidli, Maryam Katagan, and Sakine Cansız learned leadership from their mothers." Women today must also learn leadership from these women and follow their example so that our revolution succeeds.

The co-chair of the Armenian Social Council called on all women not to remain silent and to work on ensuring their rights in the constitution, adding: "It may take 15 years to draft the constitution." And when women remain silent and do not take action, their rights will be lost. All women must unite and play their role in the new Syria.

Aref Qasabian concluded her speech by saying: "The women of North and East Syria have made tremendous efforts to protect the gains of the revolution, and they have reached their current status thanks to this work." They have taken their rightful place, and they are working in the political, economic, military, diplomatic, and social fields. We must now focus on our future so that we can strongly protect the gains of our revolution. We have been a role model for all Syrian women, but thru solidarity, we can become a role model for the world and ensure our constitutional rights.
